My career as a "counselor" began long before I became a degreed and licensed clinical counselor. My passion for helping individuals access their strengths, and then building upon those strengths, was born within a corporate environment where staff development was one of my responsibilities. When my position responsibilities quickly changed, and I found the position eliminated staff development as part of my duties, I sought advice about changing careers. My advice came from a career coach. Based on that experience, I enrolled in, and graduated from, the oldest and most creditable coaching program, established a life/career coaching company, Integrated Solutions LLC, and then chose to broaden my career by returning to graduate school.
My bachelor's degree is from Ohio Dominican University where I graduated in 1996 with a degree in Cross-Disciplinary Studies with a double minor in Sociology and Psychology. My master's counseling degree was obtained from Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 2008. I chose MTSO because it offered a curriculum based on a holistic approach towards human development, expansion, and growth. The holistic approach considers mind, body, and spirit when working with individuals from a solutions, strength-based, and progressive based counseling approach. This approach is the basis for my counseling.
